Bath time not noisy enough for you? Pooky’s bathtub is just full of bath toys (I thought it was a really good idea to get all those alphabet letters and numbers). We try to keep her occupied so that bath time is easier on us since she can be quite fussy about taking a bath these days. Their shampoos, bubble bath, lotions, and soaps come in tasty flavors such as chocolate, banana, root beer, and strawberry. They smell really good (and yummy!) and remind me of the scratch n sniff stickers I loved as a kid. Their “Little Docs” product line is fragrance free and especially created for babies and kids with eczema and sensitive skin. Each product bottle has a picture of a child character from a different country and includes a paragraph about the character and where s/he is from.

Bath time is one of Pooky’s favorite parts of the day. If she’s feeling grumpy (which she often is toward the end of the day), a nice bath never fails to cheer her up. The only problem is that, until recently, she insisted on having her Mommy in the tub with her. Otherwise, bath time became crying and screaming time. Not fun. In her little inflatable tub-within-a-tub, Pooky is warm and cozy on a nice soft surface. She’s as happy as a clam, which allows me to bathe her by myself and hog some of her fun time. It’s wonderful bonding, and it allows May some much-needed time to herself (which she usually spends working on this very blog). Everyone wins.

The question of what to put on your baby’s skin is a tricky one. On the one hand, you don’t want to lather her in chemicals with names you can’t pronounce. On the other hand, you want something that will really do the job. The three all natural Baby Cakes by ZenMomma products we tried with Pooky passed both of these tests with flying colors.

Pooky doesn’t like to talk about it, but she’s always had a problem with diaper rash. If we don’t apply a cream after her bath, she usually ends up with a rash the next morning, which is why we were so eager to try the Rear Repair & Over There ULTRA Cream. Before Baby Cakes, the only cream that worked for her was one that uses zinc oxide as its active ingredient. It’s effective, we just have no idea what it is. Plus, it doesn’t smell very nice and it leaves a greasy residue that’s tough to clean off. With the Rear Repair, it’s all natural and Pooky remains rash-free. It has a much nicer texture and, thankfully, it doesn’t leave the greasy residue. The Baby Cakes ULTRA Lotion has such a wonderful citrusy aroma that I’m actually tempted to taste it (but I won’t). It has done a great job of keeping her cheeks and shoulders, previous trouble spots, moist and soft. The Baby Cakes Body Wash has a similar scent to the lotion and lathers up and rinses off nicely. It’s comforting to know that Pooky is squeaky clean and chemical free when she leaves the bath.

With all of these products, we don’t worry about what’s going on Pooky’s skin, and we don’t sacrifice any of the effectiveness of the chemical products. What could be better? Price: $11.99-19.00.
